About Midori's Garden

Located on approximately half an acre of land within the Gathered Waters estate, Midori's Garden is a Tier 1 cannabis cultivation and processing company. Our focus lies in harnessing the potential of cannabis to create handcrafted herbal products that positively impact the lives of our customers.

We started our cannabis journey as home growers. We decided to grow our own when we found that the types of cannabis strains our family prefers to consume to aid with our sleep,  pain, or focus were not consistently available in the recreational market. When it was available, it was too often dry or lacking in terpenes. We want to provide a craft cannabis option for Western Massachusetts cannabis consumers like us.

We aspire to remain a very small company, only employing five full-time employees at full scale.

Mission

At Midori's Garden, our mission is to enhance the well-being of our customers, workers, and community through the power of medicinal herbs. We are dedicated to cultivating premium cannabis and crafting high-quality herbal products that promote a sense of wellness and provide natural support for everyday life.

We pursue our mission in a way that models respect for Mother Earth, care for our workers,  and love for our community.

Herbal Well-being

Midori's Garden is dedicated to providing a diverse range of products to support holistic wellness. Our initial offerings include thoughtfully crafted tinctures and smokeable flower, each designed to offer a natural and harmonious experience. Our tinctures are skillfully formulated for precise dosing and ease of use, while our smokeable flower provides a rich and satisfying option for those who appreciate traditional consumption methods.

Ethical Cultivation

We limit the bulk of our cultivation to the outdoor grow season because we didn't feel it would be ethical to consume the amount of electricity needed to grow a tropical plant through a Massachusetts winter. We carefully cultivate small batches of cannabis flower, utilizing outdoor, hoop-house cultivation methods. By embracing the natural elements and sustainable practices, we nurture our plants to yield premium craft flower of exceptional quality. The flower we grow forms the foundation for our herbal medicine products.

Since we grow outdoors, we have a single growing season. This means our cannabis plants only emit odor during the month of September.  We practice companion planting of aromatic medicinal herbs such as lemon balm, basil, hops, and lavender both to counter the smell of cannabis AND  to provide additional herbal ingredients for our herbal products.

The Midori's Garden cultivation site is fenced in and tucked away in our property--out of site and several hundred feet away from all abutters.

Commitment to Social Equity

Midori's Garden is proud to be a 100% Black/Minority- and woman-owned business. As a certified Social Equity program participant, we are deeply committed to promoting diversity, inclusion, equity, and worker empowerment within the cannabis industry. Ask us about our Positive Impact Plan and Diversity Plan to learn more about how we are putting equity into practice.

Executive Team

Mickey is the founder and work-owner of Midori's Garden. Before starting Midori's Garden, Mickey had a consulting and nonprofit management career. Mickey was drawn to study business because, as a young child, she observed that the business owners that employed her family had the power to improve their life conditions--or make those conditions more challenging. Her desire to go into business is rooted in the aspiration to create the equity she always wanted to see from the side of the worker.  She is a fan of W.E.B. Dubois, Mondragon Cooperatives, unions, and creative approaches to building a more equitable world.

Mickey has a B.S.B.A. in Accounting from The Ohio State University, an MBA from Harvard Business School, and a Master's in Public Policy from the Harvard Kennedy School of Government.
